Since our inception in 2005, EnerCrest has strived to provide industry-leading services based upon our core values of sustainability, efficiency, and accountability. By combining world-class environmental capabilities with integrated service offerings we have been able to increase value and reduce operating costs for our customers while improving safety.
We are pleased to inform you that in 2008 we reduced our TRIR to 2.59 from 6.63 in 2007; we also reduced our DART rate to 1.62 from 2.65 during the same period. These improvements are the direct result of our uncompromising emphasis on building a safety culture. Leadership from the CEO down has contributed to this change, as well as our investments in safety systems, safety professionals, safety training, incident management, and by emphasizing individual accountability.
In 2009, we are committed to a zero incident rate goal and are actively managing toward it in five key areas:
We aggressively promote and manage our 'stop work' policy:
- Every employee has the right and the responsibility to stop any unsafe job
- Our safety mantra is 'If you see it, you own it', on the job or off the job
We employ managed safety systems to reduce day-to-day risk in the field:
- Required, detailed and signed Job Safety Analysis from every crew, every day
- Regular safety tailgate meetings and all-hands quarterly safety meetings
- Managed behavior-based safety program
We commit significant human and financial resources to safety:
- Deploy one safety professional in the field for every 30 field employees
- Invest $3,500 per employee in annual safety budget
- Maintain a volunteer-based, employee safety council
We actively and aggressively manage all incidents:
- Require immediate reporting of all near misses and incidents
- Employ an independent third party for employee health management
- Conduct root cause analysis and investigations on all incidents resulting in property damage, first aid, or injury
We align our organization with a culture of safety:
- Tie all managers' compensation to safety performance
- Measure and report safety performance weekly to all employees
- Promote and advance employees based on safety performance
2009 promises to be a challenging year in our industry but regardless of economic circumstances we are committed to our mission of zero recordable incidents. This dedication to our customers and our employees ensures that you can expect industry-leading safety performance on every EnerCrest job.
Best Regards,
Shaun Andrikopoulos
